The Dorchester County Council appointed a new Airport Manager in September. Mr. Meighan K. Chisholm Sr., who most people simply call “Chis”, was selected for what he emphatically calls his “Dream Job”. When asked “What is the single most important attribute that you would bring to this position if selected, his clear answer was “ENERGY!”.
Chis says that although the volume and complexity of the work to be done is daunting, the immediate full range of support from the other MAMA members, and the MAA team’s helpful outreach have made the start-up an exciting and positive experience.
The many visitors that fly in to KCGE and Kay’s Kitchen at the airport, will often find Chis and his airport team (Operations Manager Snap Johnson) meeting them to help with parking, aircraft servicing, and “door holding” to ensure visitors know they are welcome.
Meighan Chisholm pilots a Piper Cherokee, is restoring a 1941 Stinson 10A (of U-Boat hunter fame), and can be found in the right seat of the state of Maryland’s mosquito spraying King Air on some Summer evenings. His background includes an Air Force career where he was a Technical Instructor, Aircraft Maintenance Officer (F-105, F-4, and B-52). He was sponsored by the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) through Florida State University and later, for a Masters through Ball State University.
As a Program Manager for Westinghouse Electric and Northrop Grumman Corporation, he managed U. S. Military and International radar systems production and support worldwide. He is an A&P with Inspection Authorization (IA).
Chis says he has never been busier, but he is very excited about the opportunities at KCGE, the help he if offered by the other Airport Managers (MAMA), and the solid backing by the Dorchester County management, and the MAA.
